My Story

10 years ago on March 6th 2014, I was walking in the park when all of a sudden I felt really dizzy. Before I knew it my knees went from underneath me and I collapsed to the ground. I freaked out because nothing like that had ever happened to me before so I got into a taxi, went home, climbed into bed and basically stayed there for the next three years.

I couldn’t move. I was completely paralyzed with exhaustion. I found it difficult to complete small tasks like going to the loo or having a shower. At my worst I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow. I slept and slept but no amount of sleep would make me feel better, so I did what anyone would do in that situation, and I took myself to the doctors.

But when the results came back, I was told that there was nothing wrong with me. I went home frustrated and alone. I knew something underlying was going on so I did a tone of reading, went to see loads of alternative practitioners, ran multiple tests and everything eventually pointed to the same thing: that I had completely burnt out.

You’re probably wondering what the hell was I doing before I collapsed? Well I thought I was super woman! I said yes to everything, worked like a freight train and missed all the warning signs.

Being in bed for three years was hard. But you know what the hardest things was? It wasn’t not being able to move it was managing my mental wellbeing. My mental health went out the window. Every day I would wake up in a low mood, was crippled with anxiety and it was very dark place.

My negative thoughts massively sabotaged my recovery. There were times where I didn’t want to be alive anymore and I had suicidal thoughts.

Today I’m 100% recovered but I had to make A LOT of changes. I had to change my diet, my lifestyle and my mindset.

Nobody should suffer what I had to experience which is why I’m on a mission to help everyone avoid burnout and recover from physical and mental ill health fast.

I’ve personally coached thousands of individuals to increase their energy, helped multiple companies give their employees more mental resilience and written a book on how to recover from burnout.

It’s also why I put together Go Mental – The UKs first mental wellbeing festival, I want to bridge the gap between all the pain and suffering. I feel like we are all talking about mental health, but the conversation is still incomplete. I want to bring together all the experts, tools  and resources to make our mental wellbeing journeys easier.
